H
D.I.Y. Upgrading the factory speakers on a 2010 ix35.
I picked the Kicker KS650īs for my upgrade, being the best I could get out of my local sound shop.

Not being 20yrs old anymore, 65 watts RMS is plenty to provide a nice clean, clear sound
by the way this is not an amplified system D.I.Y. and they sound great with the stock headunit.

Now on to the door panal removal.

To prevent damage to any door parts, wrap your pry bar or flat tip screwdriver in tape.

First, remove the corner tweeter assy. by prying from the top outwards.
There is a clip on top and guides on the bottom and disconnect.

Using a very small watchmakers screwdriver, remove the cover on the handle assy.

And remove the screw.

There are three more screws to be removed in the same fashion.

The door handle is the last screw to be removed.

Pull the bottom of the door cover outwards and when free upwards to remove.

Disconnect the two connectors from the door panal and set aside.

NOW STOP!!! Dont think you can just mount the new speakers like I did, the window will not open.

You will need the old factory speakers again. Notice the depth of the spacer.

Since this whole assy. is the old speaker you will need to tear it apart.
( your repacing them anyway, Right!)

Remove the foan top.

Using a pair of wire dikes, cut the plastic holding the magnet.

And rip the paper cone off.

Now you have a spacer to allow the window to open freely.

Aline the terminals of the new speaker to the old spacer.

And mount the speaker.

The terminals of the Kickers and the old speakers matched up perfectly and could be direcly soldered together.

Remount the speaker and reconnect the factory connector. Perfect fit.

Replace the door panal opposite as removal. Done.
